Chiang Mai University (CMU), Thailand, commits to fostering “ACTIVE LEARNING” and “INNOVATION SKILLS”
Innovation skills, or the 4Cs, comprise creativity, critical thinking and problem-solving, communication, and collaboration (P21, 2007; Council of Europe, 2017). Design can foster innovation skills. Disaya Chudasri, an experienced designer, who used to work in design companies for more than ten years prior to joining CMU in 2009, is keen to enable students’ development. Over the years, Disaya has explored teaching methods and learning activities that incorporate “design thinking” and “design practice”. The courses being explored include Modern Life and Animation (classrooms for international students), Marketing for Design, Digital Movies for Commerce, and Fundamental Design in Digital Arts. With consent, this website showcases outstanding works of former students who enrolled on these courses. Having seen examples of work, students can have a better understanding of a project brief and expected outcomes, and develop a “can-do” attitude.
